and he had pollinated the flowers of the yellow-pea plants with the pollen from the green-pea plants.

All the peas came out yellow.

He then planted all the new yellow peas and waited for them to grow.

He pollinated the flowers of the new plants with their own pollen.

The new plants did not all make yellow peas.
One out of every four plants made green peas again!
